A defensive play in which players at the net attempt to block or interfere with the flight of the ball. Bump. (Bounce pass) the ball is "bumped" off the forearms with the hands clasped together and the forearms side by side. Court.
An attack by an offensive player in attempt to make the ball hit the floor on their opponent's side. Also called a spike. Ace. A serve that your opponent cannot pass; this results immediately in a point. Block. A defensive play by one or more front row players meant to deflect a spiked ball back to the hitter's court.
